Wrapped in a Blanket: A Winter Gathering for the Heart
December 21, 3:00–3:50 PM • A House Unbuilt, Stillwater
A reflective indoor gathering with sound, imagery, artist reflections, and quiet personal space to honor a loved one or seasonal grief. Participants will experience projected imagery of the installation, guided reflection, and receive a small chime to take home as a reminder of memory, connection, and care. Free.
Community Dedication of Wrap Me in a Blanket
December 21, 4:00 PM • Lowell Park at the end of Nelson Street, Stillwater
A brief outdoor opening and dedication of the chime-filled installation, including short reflections and a moment to acknowledge the names, memories, and tenderness carried by each chime. All are welcome.
Wrap Me in a Blanket
Part sculpture, part sound piece, Wrap Me in a Blanket fills a tree in Lowell Park with hundreds of small chimes, each representing a memory, a name, or a moment of tenderness carried by the community. In the winter air, the branches become a shared instrument of remembrance—inviting Stillwater residents to experience the landscape as a place of warmth, connection, and quiet presence.
“What would it be like to give our grief a little space this holiday season? To pull up a chair and say, ‘have a seat—you’re allowed here too,’” says artist Olivia Morawiecki. “This project is about honoring the love inside grief, and creating a gentle way for people to meet each other in that experience.”
The work is supported by A House Unbuilt’s Art & Water Micro Residency, a winter residency program that invites artists to explore the intersection of art, environment, and community healing. Executive & Artistic Director Victoria Bradford Styrbicki notes that both the installation and the surrounding winter landscape reflect shared themes of resilience and care.“Wrap Me in a Blanket is a reminder that loss is not separate from the natural world—it is held by it. The chimes create a communal archive of love and memory, carried like sound through the trees and the river valley,” says Bradf
