2025 Caught Up programming:
Over time, as we have learned more about the needs of our community, we have decided to make new access services available during our exhibitions and workshops as requested by visitors and participants. Please let us know if you require:
- American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.
- Assisted Listening Devices (may be dependent on venue).
- Audio description: live narration of visual elements onstage, conducted by a trained professional over headphones.
- Large print programs.
- Personal assistants.
- Wheelchair seating.
Note: Building accessibility into our all of our programs is a given, as well as elevator access, accessible restrooms, and mobility accommodations.
Video Captioning on relayofvoices.com:
Videos from the entire Relay of Voices archive are now fully captioned. We opted to create our own captions in order to avoid mistakes made by screen readers. These videos are hosted on Vimeo, which provides automatic captions using voice-recognition software. This service often produces errors, so we are in an ongoing process to manually edit and republish the captions to the Relay website. These captions are on at all times, rather than requiring viewers to click on a closed captioning tool (CC) embedded in the video module. We found this to be a fairly easy and cost-effective solution to ensuring that all Relay of Voices videos are captioned and accessible whether the service is required or not.
